Pulse Charging

Pulse charging may be chosen as a preventative measure to reduce a long-term buildup of sulfation.  When used from the initial installation, pulse charging may be effective in reducing sulfation buildup in cells that are properly charged and maintained.  However, it is not as effective in reversing a buildup of sulfation that has already occurred.

Frequent, unnecessary equalizations or overcharge will damage the cells, reducing battery capacity and cycle life. To prolong the life of your batteries, Rolls recommends testing specific gravity regularly to determine battery health, identify weak or failing cells, and confirm state-of-charge. When a charge imbalance or sulfation buildup is identified, follow the steps outlined to perform a corrective equalization as necessary.
