Operating Temperatures - Discharge, Charge & Storage

Modified on Wed, 17 Jun, 2020 at 3:55 PM

Optimal operating temperature is 25ºC (77ºF)

Continuous cold temperature operation will reduce battery capacity which is recovered as temperatures rise.

Continuous high temperature operation will reduce battery cycle life which is not recoverable.

FLOODED MODELS:
Discharge: -30ºC (-22ºF) to 70ºC (158ºF)
Charge: 0ºC (32ºF) to 50ºC (122ºF)
Storage: -20ºC (4ºF) to 60ºC (140ºF)

Note: When using a Battery Temperatur Sensor (BTS), to minimize cell damage a high temperature cut-off should be set. The battery bank should not exceed an operating temperature of 52ºC (125ºF) as outlined in Rolls Battery User Manual.

VRLA AGM MODELS:
Discharge: -20ºC (-4ºF) to 60ºC (140ºF)
Charge: 0ºC (32ºF) to 50ºC (122ºF)
Storage: -20ºC (4ºF) to 60ºC (140ºF)

OPzV GEL MODELS:
Discharge: -40ºC (-40ºF) to 60ºC (140ºF)
Charge: -20ºC (4ºF) to 50ºC (122ºF)
Storage: -40ºC (-40ºF) to 60ºC (140ºF)
